Natural Dyes Workshop • Spring/Summer Craft Series at City Farm SLO
Utilize garden materials, foraged & grown flowers, and kitchen scraps to create your own natural dye bath! With wool from City Farm’s Navajo Churro flock, you’ll walk away with naturally dyed roving wool to craft with or spin into a skein of yarn.
•
I’ll provide a handful of upcycled cotton materials — tote bags, bandanas, tshirts, & the like if you wish to dye one additional textile along with the wool. f you’d like to, you can bring your own white/lightly colored pillowcases, sheets, and/or table cloths to dye those, as well. Natural fibers such as cotton, linen, and silk respond best to the natural dye process.

Lino cut & Flower Print Workshop at City Farm SLO
Join us for a hands-on linocut & flower printing workshop where you'll learn the art of carving and printing your own unique designs! Linocut is a beautiful, accessible printmaking technique that allows you to create bold, expressive artwork with simple materials. As well as our Linocut printing, we’ll have the lovely addition of City Farm grown cut & natural dye flowers to print onto our upcycled cotton materials. You’ll leave with a flower printed item, stamped with the block print of your own making, and the skills to continue these practices in your own time.
•
Led by City Farm staff members, Caroline & Sequoia.
A note from Sequoia:
I first discovered linocut during COVID, when I wanted to make a design representing my friends—we called ourselves "The Goat House," so naturally, my first stamp was a goat. As I explored more art online, I found myself drawn to intricate designs but couldn’t afford to purchase them. That’s when I started carving my own stamps and became obsessed with the process. Since then, linocut has become more than just a craft for me—it's a way to connect with people, tell stories through design, and deepen my relationship with the land.
In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of designing, carving, and printing your own linocut block. Whether you want to create a personal emblem, a nature-inspired print, or a gift for someone special, this class will guide you through each step. No prior experience is needed—just a love for creativity and a willingness to get your hands a little inky!
